🧈 Gordon Ramsay White Bread Ingredients

  • 4½ teaspoons instant yeast, two 0.25-ounce packets
  • ¾ cup (820 ml) + 2⅔ cups warm water, divided
  • ¼ cup (52 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons (43 g) unsalted butter, cubed, at room temperature
  • 9 to 10 cups (1200 g) all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons (43 g) unsalted butter, melted, for brushing

🍞 How To Make Gordon Ramsay White Bread

  1. Mix the yeast with ¾ cup of warm water in the bowl of a stand mixer. Set it aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix in the last 2⅔ cups of water, the sugar, the salt, the butter that has been left out at room temperature, and 5 cups of the flour.
  3. Mix on low speed with a dough hook as you add the rest of the flour little by little until the dough is soft and tacky but not sticky. You may not need to use all of the flour.
  4. For another 7 to 10 minutes, knead the dough until it makes a soft ball that moves away from the sides of the bowl.
  5. Put the dough in a bowl that has been lightly oiled and turn it over so that it is covered all the way around.
  6. Place the dough somewhere draft-free and cover it with plastic wrap. Let it rise until it doubles in size, which should take 45 minutes to an hour.
  7. Spread the dough out on a clean surface that has been lightly oiled. Do a light press all over to get rid of any air spaces. Separate the dough into two equal parts.
  8. Gently press each half into a 9×12-inch square. Start rolling the square into a very tight cylinder from the short end. Roll the bread up and tuck the ends under the bread.
  9. Then, grease 9-inch loaf pans and put the bread in them. Leave the loaves in a draft-free area with an open cover for 30 to 45 minutes, or until they have doubled in size.
  10. Set one of the oven racks to the lowest position and heat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  11. Use some of the melted butter to brush the loaves. Turn the loaves over every 15 minutes for 30 to 35 minutes, or until they are golden brown (an instant-read thermometer put into the middle should read 195 degrees F).
  12. Once you take it out of the oven, brush it with more hot butter right away. Let them cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then take them out and let them cool fully before cutting.
  13. It will last up to 4 days at room temperature if you put it in a bread bag that keeps air out or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. You can also freeze it for up to a month.
