Crock Pot Chicken and Noodles

Crock Pot Chicken and Noodles

If you read my blog on a regular basis ( Thank you, by the way!) you know that there are three familiar factors in alot of my main dish recipes…chicken, cheese and the crock pot. This dish is no different.

Well, it doesn’t have any cheese, but, it’s chicken in the crock pot..two out of the three. 😉

This is nearly a whole meal right in your crock pot. You don’t even have to cook the noodles before adding them.

Here are a few notes for this one:

  • If desired, whole wheat egg noodles works for this dish too.
  • When you are adding noodles, you should be able to stir them in. Remove the chicken and cut into pieces, add noodles, then, place chicken pieces back into pot. If needed, adding a little more chicken broth or water to the noodles is fine.
  • Important: Don’t leave the noodles in too long! This will cause them to stick together and be pretty unappetizing. Keep a close eye on them once you put them in the pot.

Side this Crock Pot Chicken and Noodles up with a veggie and call it dinner!

  4. Has anyone tried adding some frozen mixed veggies? I've got it in my crock now and I'm debating on adding the veggies.

    1. Hi Jenny- I have not, but, it's a great idea! Please let me know if you did and how it worked out!

  5. Sorry, What is a crockpot? Is it like a pressure cooker? thanks,

    1. A crockpot (or slow cooker to some)is a small appliance that cooks your food slowly-(usually) unattended for a few to several hours depending on the dish.

  6. I'm sure there's a reason, but why not cut up the chicken prior to putting it in the crockpot? Seems like that would be simpler (I'm a lazy cook, lol). Looks delicious!

    1. Hi Rachel..thank you! I usually toss my chicken in a bit frozen, so, it's a bit easier once it's cooked a bit. But, cutting before putting in should be ok…keep en eye on it, it may change your cooking time though.
      Enjoy 🙂

  7. I was going to make this, but leave stuff in the crockpot while I am at work. Could I just put it on low and let it cook longer?

    1. Hi Bethany- you should be ok for 6-8 hours on low. You will have to give the noodles extra cooking too.
      Thanks for dropping by!

  8. Hi Erin,
I made this recipe last night, and LOVED it. So easy, and so delicious!! I'll be checking out more of your crockpot recipes, as I love using mine, too!

    Sincerely. Sharon D.

  9. can I use chicken bouillon , I'm out of broth..same or different…thanx !

    1. I think you should be OK Sharon..just as long as the liquid is the same amount 🙂 Enjoy!

  10. How long would you suggest leaving the noodles in the crock pot? I have never cooked pasta in the crock pot.

    1. Hi Lindsay! Sorry about that….I updated the recipe. It should only take about 5-10 minutes for the noodles to get tender, depending on your crock pot.

  11. Will this recipe thicken up? It resembles more of a soup consistency

    1. Hi Kelley- it should thicken a bit upon cooling.

  12. I would add fresh mushrooms and frozen peas since I love both. I’d have to semi-thaw the chicken breasts since they seem to like to freeze together. and it’s hard to pull them apart at times. Would it work to cook the noodles separately while everything else is cooking, then add them at the end? Sometimes I have leftover noodles from other dinners too.

  13. 5 stars
I made this for dinner, and we loved it. I added salt, pepper and 1 1/2 teas. of poultry seasoning to the liquid. The next time I will use more chicken broth instead of water for flavor. Otherwise, I did exactly what the recipe said. Since there’s just two of us, I have enough to freeze for another meal.

    1. Thanks for the feedback Randy! If you try it again with a few additional spices…let me know how it works out.
