Bierocks Filling:

  1. Chop your onion and cabbage first. The shredded onion and cabbage should be added to the butter in a large frying pan. Cook for about 6-7 minutes, stirring frequently.
  2. After you have cooked your hamburger, you will need to drain the grease.
  3. Combine the hamburger, cabbage, onion, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. The result will be a traditional Bierocks filling.
  4. I like to add some shredded cheddar cheese as well! You are certainly not obligated to do this, but if you like cheese, I highly recommend it. Mix all of this.

  1. After the dough has risen for the full hour, you will separate the dough into 18 balls and roll out each ball on a floured surface.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Then, scoop approximately 12 cups of the bierocks filling into the dough, and fold the dough over the filling and pinch it shut.
  4. Put it seam side down on a cookie sheet with parchment paper then bake it for 30 minutes. Make sure to rotate it halfway through.
  5. Another option, but equally tasty, is to brush the tops with melted butter!

How much filling to put in each one? It says to use 12 cups of filling so I'm guessing about 2/3 to 3/4 a cup each since there are 18 rolls?

We just made this recipe exactly as shown with and without cheese, and they were amazing!
