Pork Egg Rolls with Homemade Sweet and Sour Sauce

Skip take out or frozen food version and make these simple egg rolls at home!

The age old question..get take out for dinner or just cook at home?

Maybe not that old age, but, it pops into my head more than I’d like to admit.  Here’s the thing..I love to bake, but, I only just like to cook.  That is why you see so many more desserts around here than main dishes 😉

I think it comes from the fact that most of my family are pretty basic eaters. Nothing too spicy, too wild or crazy.  Basic.  Personally, I get sick of basic and making separate meals isn’t exactly what I want to do. So, sometimes, take out just wins out.

One of my favorite things to order out is egg rolls from our local Chinese restaurant. They are crunchy and delicious. So, to curb the take-out desire and save some money, I decided to start making them homemade.

These egg rolls are really simple. They take a few steps (see video for instructions!)  to wrap them, but, are totally worth it. Fresh pork, cabbage, carrots and a some seasoning.  Then, dunk them in some homemade sweet and sour sauce.

Mmmm…so very yummy.

Below are three different ways you can make these.

Yes, three.

I purchased a nifty Air Fryer and have totally fell in love with it.  If you have one, give these a whirl with it. If not, frying them in oil or baking them in the oven work perfectly too.

Whatever your preference..go for it!

Simple and delicious! These Pork Egg Rolls are so much better than the take out or frozen food version!

Enjoy-

What kind and size of wrappers do you use?

Hi Vicki!

I use egg roll wrappers from Na Soya. ( http://www.nasoya.com/healthy-tofu-products/egg-roll-wraps/ ) But, any other brand equivalent will work. Check in the produce section of your grocery store and you should find them there.

Enjoy!
