Let bread dough sit and room temperature and thaw completely. This will take approx 2-3 hours.
Once thawed, roll out dough into a rectangle. Then, roll dough into a long rope ( approx 20-24 inches long).
Cut rope into bite size pieces ( approx 1/2 inch to 1 inch in size).
In a large pot, bring 6 cups of water to a boil. Add in baking soda.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a flat rimmed baking sheet with foil. Then, spray foil with non stick cooking spray.
Boil each piece of dough in baking soda water for 1 minute. The dough will expand in the water.
Remove dough from the water with a slotted spoon and place on prepared baking sheet.
Whisk together egg and 1 TBSP of water.
Brush each piece of dough ( that has been boiled) with egg wash, then, sprinkle top with coarse salt.
Bake for 10-20 minutes or until brown. Cooking time may vary, depending on the size of your bites.
