Ingredients

  • 12 ounces beef liver sliced
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 yellow onion thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil divided
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  • Put the sliced beef liver in a bowl.
  • Add buttermilk on top. Soak in the fridge for at least an hour and up to a whole day.
  • Take the beef out of the buttermilk after it has soaked. You can use paper towels to dry. Throw away buttermilk.
  • Add garlic powder, pepper, and sea salt to both sides.
  • Warm up a big pan over medium-low heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Put in the sliced onions.
  • Make onions soft by cooking them. To keep things from burning, stir every so often. Take the onions out of the pan.
  • Add the last tablespoon of olive oil to the pan.
  • Add the seasoned beef liver to the pan.
  • Grill both sides for two to three minutes, or until the meat hits 160 degrees Fahrenheit inside.
  • Put the onions back in the pan and heat them up for one minute.
  • Last, put the onions and beef liver on the table.

Notes

  • Ensure the beef liver is adequately soaked in buttermilk for at least an hour, allowing it to tenderize and absorb flavors.
  • For enhanced flavor, consider marinating the beef liver in buttermilk for an extended period, up to a whole day.
  • After removing the liver from the buttermilk, pat it dry using paper towels to achieve a better sear during cooking.
  • Apply garlic powder, black pepper, and sea salt evenly on both sides of the liver for a well-balanced taste.
