French Toast Bites with Maple Butter Dipping Sauce

Simple and fun! Delicious french toast made into bite sizes pieces that you dunk in a creamy maple butter sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 pieces thick sliced bread, cut into bite sized pieces
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup brown sugar for coating
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for coating
  • butter for skillet

FOR DIPPING SAUCE:

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup maple syrup

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon for coating. Set aside.
  • In skillet, over medium heat, melt butter and coat pan.
  • In a bowl or pie plate, whisk together eggs, milk, ground cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Dip bread pieces into egg mixture and coat. Don’t leave in the mixture too long.. the pieces will become soggy quickly.
  • Cook pieces in skillet for approx 2-3 minutes each or until brown. Work in batches and don’t overcrowd your pan.
  • Toss warm pieces in brown sugar/cinnamon coating.
  • Continue with remaining pieces.

FOR DIPPING SAUCE:

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together syrup and butter until fully melted and smooth.
  • Serve warm with bites.
