Pioneer Woman Creamed Chipped Beef is another word for comfort food! Featuring beef pieces covered in ultra-creamy white sauce. Serve the Pioneer Woman chipped beef on toast or rice.
Cut the meat into 1/2-inch strips, then 1-inch chunks; reserve.
In a large pan over medium-low heat, melt the butter.
Dust with flour and mix to form a paste. Continue stirring so the flour may cook for 1 to 2 minutes without becoming brown.
Slowly whisk in 2 cups of the milk, the garlic powder, and the pepper to eliminate any lumps.
Bring to a simmer, stirring regularly to prevent the bottom from burning. Approximately two to three minutes after it begins to bubble, it will thicken.
Stir in meat. Additional two minutes of simmering will integrate the meat flavor into the sauce.
Taste and, if necessary, add salt, or thin with extra milk.
Serve with bread or rice.
Notes
Although fresh chipped beef from your deli is preferable, jars of chipped beef may be obtained with your canned meats.
If you’re using shelf-stable beef, soak your chipped meat in water for ten minutes to eliminate some of the saltiness. It’s not required, but it will help prevent your gravy from being too salty.
We use Half & Half instead of milk to make our gravy extra creamy. It just adds a richer taste without going overboard with heavy cream.
To reheat leftovers Pioneer Woman Creamed Chipped Beef, add a bit of milk to the gravy before heating on the stovetop over low heat.
