Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups grated cheddar cheese
  • ¾ cup Monterey Jack cheese grated
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup real mayonnaise
  • 4 whole green onions white, and light green parts minced
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 loaf crusty French bread
  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 cloves garlic finely minced

Instructions

  • Combine cheese and green onions with mayonnaise.
  • Set aside or keep in the fridge until needed, and season with salt to taste.
  • Slice the loaf of bread in half, then each half in half again.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet and stir in 1/4 of the minced garlic.
  • Place one of the 1/4 loaf faces down in the skillet, swirling it to soak up the butter and garlic.
  • Toast the bread in the skillet, removing the garlic if it begins to brown too much.
  • Continue with the remaining garlic, butter, and bread.
  • In a 425-degree oven, bake cheese mixture for about 10 minutes, or until cheese is hot and bubbly.
  • Cut bread into slices and serve with the hot cheese mix.

Notes

  • Another method is to bake the cheese mixture on top of the sliced bread until the cheese is melted.
