Love french toast, but, not all the calories? This one is just for you! Made with whole wheat bread and egg whites..this has all the great taste of classic french toast with a little less guilt!

Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes

Ingredients

  • 6 slices, whole wheat bread
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup skim milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup egg whites ( or approx 4 eggs)
  • powdered sugar, optional, for dusting
  • fresh fruit, optional, for topping

Instructions

  1. In a pie plate or shallow bowl, whisk together egg whites, ground cinnamon, milk and vanilla.
  2.  Lightly grease a skillet.
  3. Dip 1 slice of bread into egg white mixture and coat.  Shake off any access.
  4. Put coated bread slice  on skillet and cook until both sides are light brown. Approx 2-3 minutes for each side of bread. Repeat with remaining slices of bread.
  5. Serve warm with desired toppings ( powdered sugar, syrup, fresh fruit, etc)
