- French Bread. My preferred variety is the one that comes from the bakery section of the grocery store and has fresh bread that is ready to be purchased. If you want the bread to be seen, cut it in half lengthwise.
- Butter. To be spread on top of the bread halves when still salted and after being softened.
- Garlic Powder. The butter spread gets a combination of garlic taste from the addition of this ingredient.
- Garlic Cloves. The addition of minced garlic cloves not only provides a little texture but also enhances the flavor of the butter and cheese.
- Italian Seasoning. Italian spice is an essential component of any garlic bread. It captures the essence of each season in a single bottle, just the way it should be.
- Colby Jack Cheese And Mozzarella Cheese. Have the finest melting qualities when subjected to high temperatures and also have the flavor of an Italian cheese combination.
- Parsley. Chopped and used as a garnish for added flavor and color!
Is It Possible To Use Extra Virgin Olive Oil In This Recipe?
Extra virgin – oil has a more robust flavor than ordinary olive oil, which has been purified more. Therefore I find that when I make this dish, I like to stick with conventional olive oil. But if you only have extra-virgin olive oil on hand and you don’t mind the flavor of the oil peeking through the cheese on the garlic bread, then by all means use the EVOO.
Can I Use Unsalted Butter?
Yes, however, you could probably add a little bit extra salt to the garlicky cheese toast before serving it.
Why Is My Garlic Bread Soggy?
- If the garlic bread is allowed to lay out for an excessive amount of time before it is baked, or if it is baked at a temperature that is too low, the bread may get soggy.
- For this recipe, we will first bake it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until the cheese is melted, which should take about 10 minutes. After that, we will raise the temperature to 450 degrees Fahrenheit for the remaining baking time, which should take about 8 minutes, or until it begins to brown on the top. Maintain a close eye on it to prevent it from going up in flames.
- I like to use a dense loaf of French bread that weighs one pound so that I can cut it in half and still end up with two pieces that are substantial enough to support the layer of garlic butter spread and cheese on top.

- Spicy. Add some crushed red pepper or pieces of pickled jalapenos, whatever you choose.

- To Reheat. To reheat garlic bread, simply wrap it in foil and bake it at 350° until heated through, about 10 minutes for refrigerated or 15-20 minutes for frozen. To reheat it in the microwave, turn the power down to around 40% and reheat with a cover over it for 1 minute or so. If the bread gets too hot, it will lose its texture and become very chewy.
