🍔 How To Make Gordon Ramsay Steak Sandwich

  1. Turn the oven on high heat (200°C/Gas 6).
  2. Put a splash of oil into a large ovenproof frying pan and heat it until it’s hot. Season the fillet with salt and pepper by grinding a good amount onto a board.
  3. Gently color all surfaces, including the ends, by frying for 1 to 2 minutes per side over a high fire.
  4. Place the beef on top of the garlic and thyme sprigs, then cook for one minute. Spoon a couple of knobs of butter onto the steak and let it baste it.
  5. Roast the beef for 15–17 minutes in a preheated oven until it reaches a rare or medium rare doneness. Pressing on it should make it feel springy.
  6. Let it rest for 15 minutes after taking it out of the oven, lightly covering it with foil. Baste it occasionally with pan juices.
  7. Prepare the relish at the same time. Fry the onion and chilies in olive oil in a big skillet over medium heat for around 5 minutes, or until they soften.
  8. Add the tomatoes, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the tomatoes start to break down.
  9. Toss in the vinegar and cook for around 6 minutes over medium heat, or until the mixture reduces to a coarse relish consistency.
  10. Take it off the heat, toss in the basil, and give it a good seasoning. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl.
  11. Whisk together the mustard mayonnaise ingredients. Spoon into a serving bowl and set aside after seasoning.
  12. Bring a griddle pan to a smoking temperature to roast the bread. Season the ciabatta slices, drizzle with olive oil, and cook them for 1 to 2 minutes on a griddle, or until they turn golden.
  13. Transfer the toasted bread to a serving tray after toasting it all the way through.
  14. Before serving, make thick slices of the rested fillet of beef and set it on a tray. Set aside the toast, mayonnaise, relish, and lettuce leaves for your guests to mix.
