Does your family consume as much pizza as mine does?

Whew..we eat it alot. Mostly homemade, but, we do get take-out when cooking is the last thing in the world that is going to happen in my kitchen. That and our next door neighbor owns the local pizza place and will give us a bit of deal.

To go along with the homemade pizza, we have homemade sauce. Now, I try and make as much homemade foods/sauces as possible, but, let’s face it, life sometimes gets ahead of you and picking up a jar of pizza sauce is just easier.

However, this sauce is very easy to toss together.  You can also make yourself a big batch and freeze it for later.

A great way to save yourself a trip to the store and save a little money.

Homemade Pizza Sauce

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 3 oz tomato paste
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 TBSP water
  • salt/pepper


  1. In a saucepan, add all ingredients. Stir until smooth.
  2. Cook on low heat for 10 minutes
  3. Keep leftovers covered in refrigerator. Use within 2 weeks.
  4. If freezing, store in a freezer safe container and use within 6 months.
