    Crock Pot Sausage Potato and Cheese Stew from Table for Seven

    Hearty and cheesy! This sausage stew is a great addition to your fall dinner lineup.

    A while back, I share a new recipe for my Crock Pot Cheesy Chicken. It’s not only a popular recipe here on the blog, but, it’s a family favorite too.  I eliminated the canned cheese soup in the recipe and added more cream of chicken soup.

    I also changed the amount and brand of cream of chicken soup in the recipe.

    This dish has also received a very similar  make over.

    It was originally posted as a casserole, but, it’s much more like a stew, so first, the name of the dish was changed.  Just a little bit.

    Like the previously mentioned post, I removed the canned cheese soup and replaced it with real cheese. I also increased the amount of cream of chicken soup.

    The above picture is what I used for store brand cream of chicken soup. No paid endorsement. We just really like it and it has a whole bunch less chemicals than some other brands of cream of chicken soup.

    Of course,homemade is also an option. 😉

    This stew isn’t the pretty dish ever, but, it is really good. It’s loaded with smoked sausage, potatoes, and veggies. All nicely cooked in a simple, cheesy base.

    Crock Pot Sausage Potato and Cheese Stew

    Ingredients

    • 2-12 oz packages smoked sausage ( beef or turkey)
    • 12 oz cream of chicken soup (our favorite)
    • 4 cups potatoes, chopped
    • 2 cups frozen veggies
    • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
    • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

    Instructions

    1. Slice sausage into coin size pieces.Brown sausage in a skillet until browned. Remove from heat, then, add into a large mixing bowl.
    2. Then, add chopped potatoes and frozen veggies in the same bowl.
    3. In a separate bowl, stir together cream of chicken soup, yogurt and cheese until combined.
    4. Pour mixture into sausage/potato bowl and mix to coat well.
    5. Pour everything into crock pot. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours
